I decided to take my workplace tobacco-free three years ago. You can bet that there was some reluctance at first—especially in rural Utah—but over time, I think everyone has warmed up to the idea.
Instead of making my employees quit cold turkey, I offered to reimburse their doctor visits and prescription anti-tobacco-related medications for the first few months of their quit. I realize it’s not easy to quit, but I want to make it as easy as possible for my employees.
A good leader will take the time to help his or her employees better their lives. Period.
